Who are we?
As members of the body of Christ at Hornby Presbyterian Community Church (HPCC), we have been called by God to be part of His mission in Southwest Christchurch and beyond (See Matthew 28:18 – The Great Commission)
Vision Statement
In line with the purpose God has in mind for His church, our vision is: To worship God, and follow Christ, transforming our world in the power of the Spirit. “Our world” refers to the people who come within our sphere of influence at HPCC. This is a simple and clear expression as to why we exist and what we are seeking to accomplish. The goal is to make the realisation of this vision an exciting and exhilarating challenge for us at HPCC. In so doing we will be fulfilling the purpose that God has created us for, as we individually find our place and ministry in the Body, and receive our prize, “the crown of righteousness” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Our Values
These are the expressions of character that we value at HPCC and that we want to preserve and encourage as we seek to realise our vision. They are the “not negotiables” – the things that we hold dear and would never compromise. We value:
- Faithfulness to the Word of God and following the leading of the Holy Spirit
- Being outward-looking; our focus being on evangelism, bringing people to faith, moving forward with God and not becoming comfortable and complacent
- To be authentic and real, and in all matters to exercise the utmost integrity.
- Supporting people to find their purpose in life and develop their God-given gifts, being “permission giving”, that is, allowing and encouraging members to exercise their gifts.
- People – people really matter to us and in our relationships we will seek to love others unconditionally. We will provide a loving and supportive environment in which everyone feels safe and accepted for who they are.
